Radiesse is a safe cosmetic dermal filler that lasts much longer than other fillers. Medical studies have proven that it is a safe, long-lasting treatment used to correct smile lines, nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Radiesse is used by cosmetic surgeons all over the world to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face. The procedure is most often performed under local anesthesia with patients experiencing only minimal discomfort from the needle injection. The procedure takes from 5-15 minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment. The clear gel is measured by the cosmetic surgeon and then injected beneath the skin, under the dermis and subcutis layer of skin. Results are usually evident within one week of the injection and can last up to two years or even more. Some touchups may be necessary throughout that time period. Typically, there is minimal swelling following the procedure, and swelling subsides in a day or two. Normal activities can be resumed immediately; however, patients having this procedure are urged to stay out of the sun. One rare complication of this procedure is the formation of nodules, which may require surgery or treatment with steroid medication. What Does Radiesse Therapy Involve?

Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a biocompatible gel. It is long lasting and does not require a skin test because it is the same mineral component found in our bones and teeth.

Will I Have Pain?

Most patients are essentially pain free during this procedure. We use the latest technology to minimize any discomfort. We also apply our especially formulated highly effective pre-treatment topical anesthetic cream. This is sufficient for most patients. As an additional measure, we use the Zimmer cold air device, which gently blows cold air against the skin, to facilitate comfort. As every person has a different threshold for pain, for those especially sensitive patients, we have developed other protocols to ensure that the treatment is extremely comfortable and tolerable allowing you to fully enjoy the results without pain.

When Can I Go Back To Work Or School?

Treatment is so gentle that most patients resume activities right away. There may be some redness which may last one or two days.
